Overnight Rick took out his catheter (shattered it, per his nurse). He must have really wanted it out, can't say I blame him. But as far as they know, he didn't do any damage to himself or try to get out of bed.
He's been sedated after that so he has been sleeping a lot. Mary ordered him breakfast but he didn't eat it, which isn't a big deal because Rick never really ate breakfast anyway, unless it was Sunday. He says, "just tired".
But he is becoming less combative and allowed his nurse to brush his teeth and even his tongue without a fight. On Monday they tried to do it and he clenched his jaw tightly and didn't want them to brush his teeth, so it's a small step but in the right direction.
Later today the staff wants him to try to get out of bed and take a little walk, so I'll keep you posted if that happens.
